Department of Statistics

The Department is established in June 1992 and has a laboratory for conducting practicals and an independent cabin.

Objectives

1. To impart knowledge is the basic aim of education. The students are expected to acquire the knowledge pertinent to types of data, collection of data, presentation of data, analysis of data and interpretation of various statistical notions.
2. To understand the new statistical terms, concepts and their interrelationships with reference to their use in diverse areas.
3. To develop computing skills in students using statistical software R.
4. To make students aware of MS-Excel for statistical computations.
5. To develop interest in students for studying statistics by inviting them to carry out projects pertinent to social problems and by arranging study tours.
