Department of Marathi
Smt.Kasturbai Walchand College, is one of the promineant college in sangli district, founded in 1960. The college is amongst, the few to be proud to have celebreated its golden jubilee.
Marathi Department has began, in the college in 1964. The department in the college teaches under-graduate and post-graduate courses to the students of Marathi Literature .
The Marathi department has a glorious tradition of good results at university level. Some of the students have recived merital awards at the University level. The department has a reputation that many students became renowned professors and bright successful personalities in their future career.The department Organizes literacy competitive programmers such as elocution, essay writing and poem reading etc.To encourage and cultivate these activities, renowned thinker personalities were invited to deliver the lectures and share their life experiences. Each as , Shri.Jayant Narlikar, Smt.Madhuri Shanbhag, Smt.Madhavi Gharpure and Smt.Tara Bhavalkar.
The Marathi department has successfully completed one major project approved by the U.G.C. The teachers of the department had also secured the coveted felicitations such as adarsh Shikshak Sevak Purskar for seniar Teachers given by L.E.S., Government of Maharashtra give ideal teacher award to Dr. R.C. Tukdev
The department always organizes study supplemental activities for overall development of students.It organizes National and State level Seminars/Workshops. To name a few ,the department had organised workshop on Katha-lekhan, Kavya-lekhan and jahirat-lekhan. The department has COC arrangements for study for Anuvad and Sambhashan Kaoushalya.The department Publishes Wall-Paper titled as Sugandh. Some Programmes under Lead College Scheme were also arranged. Various events and programmes are arranged to enhance the reading,writing,understanding and expression skills of the students. The department has organized study tour also.
