National Service Scheme (NSS)
In accordance with the policy of the university, to make the youth living in free India well acquainted with the social changes and to enable them to make proper utilisation of their strength for the all round development of society, the NSS programme is run in this college. The university has sanctioned a unit of 100 students and the NSS programme is managed by a lecturer of the college as the 'Project-Officer' of NSS.
As per the village adoption scheme, a village is adopted by the NSS and successful implementation of the programmes such as village cleaning, iradication of superstition, road repairy, adult education, family planning, cultural activities, tree plantation, vaccination, drug eradication etc. is done. Every year an NSS camp is arranged.
During this period "Shramadana", lectures and other constructive programmes are arranged. At the end of the year certificates are given to the volunteers, which are definitely useful for them in future.Our N.S.S. and N.C.C. volunteers have worked on different projects in collaboration with various social organisations.
N.S.S. Achievements
- Volunteer students went to Mauje Digraj, a village affected badly by great flood of River Krishna, and helped to clean and amend roads and drainages.
- With the help of NGO ‘Prakash Education Society, Tasgoan’, ‘Red Ribbon Club’ was started and many programmes were arranged for the AIDS awareness among the members of the club.
- Fifty nine volunteers donated blood in the blood donation camp arranged by the NSS of the college.
- A meeting of “Red Ribbon Club” was arranged for members.
- Volunteers participated in the great rally for the awareness about Eye Donation on 7th Sept. 07.
- On 1st Dec. 07, on the occasion of World AIDS Day, a rally was arranged and the volunteers participated in it.
- Volunteers participated as volunteers in “Akhil Bhartiya Bal Kumar Sahitya Sammelan” on 28, 29 and 30/12/2007. They also participated in “Akhil Bhartiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan” as volunteers on 18,19, 20 and 21/01/2007.
- In the blood donation camp 75 students donated blood.
- Volunteers actively participated in Rallies for Literacy, Eye-Donation, AIDS Awareness etc.
- Volunteers did shramadan in the college campus on Independence Day, M. Gandhi Jayanti, Republic Day, NSS day etc..
- Volunteers participated in the ten days camp organized by Unisef, Shivaji University and Zilla Parishad, Sangli under “Nirmal Gram Yojana” at Kargani, Tal. Atpadi.
- Participation of volunteers in a one-day camp at Mauje Digraj, Tal. Miraj for Shramadan and clean village.
- Welcome of “Red Ribbon Express” at Miraj Junction sent by Central Government of India.
- Participation of volunteers in Dental check-up camp and Blood Donation camp. Co-volunteers donated blood in the camp.
