Smt. KasturbaiWalchand College is leading college of Latthe Education Society sangli. This college was established in 1960.The Name of this College is Known in the Jurisdiction of Shivaji University Kolhapur. The matter of special pride of this college has it received the honour of college with potential for excellence From UGC. The college is proud of the path to date and this college is always discussing at the University level due to its many programs at the national and International levels. The college’s NCC department is in full progress in its glory, The department has contributed significantly to various activities.
In the year 1962-63, the NCC department was started in smt.Kasturbai walchand college Under the 16 Maharashtra Battalion Sangli. The NCC department of the college has access to 53 cadet’s, and this number in merit if each year.
Continuing the path of Unity and discipline, the NCC department is in progress. The Results of the ‘B’ and ‘C’ certificate Exam in the NCC department are highly appreciated. To till date our NCC cadets, RDC and TSC camps to Delhi, have won the selection at the national Level, Cadet Abhijeet Bhopi, cadet D.A.Jagtap, Cadet C.M.Desai, Cadet V.A.Patil, Cadet S.V.Patil, Cadet Sudarshanwadgave is included in this list. Apart From this, Our cadet are participating every year In the ATC, NIC, Trening camp, Army Attachment, BLC Camp etc.
The speciality of our NCC department, AbhijeetBhopi has Secured the ‘Silver Medal’ in 2016 in Health and Hygiene event at TSC Camp in Delhi. Beside, Cadet AbhijeetBhopi has received the ‘Best Cadet award’ of 2016 Shivaji University, Kolhapur.
Various types of Social activates are implemented each year through the college NCC department. Activities like Yoga Day, Tree plantation, cancer Awareness Rally, Aids Awareness Rally, Traffic Awareness Rally, Blood donation camp, Swach Bharat Abhiyan Guest Lecture programs ect.
The NCC department has also invited a commander of 16 Maharashtra Bataliyan Sangli & invites brigadiers of NCC’s Kolhapur Group, By our NCC department. Another feature of the NCC department is that after passing the ‘B’ and ‘c’ certifical exam from NCC, many Cadets got Defence Jobs. They have been got Job’s in different department of the defense field. Such as Army, Navy, Air force, Territorial Army, CISF, BSF state police, Railway police ect.
The cadet’s of our college NCC department are receiving virtue by working in various provinces as above. Our cadets play an important role in the social development. The role of NCC in College performance has always been important. ANO Capt. A.J.Patil& ANO Capt. S.K.Rathod has been working hard for this NCC department. Presently, the work of this department is done by CTO. Dr. SubhashPatil.
NCC Introduction
The National Cadet Corps (NCC) has its genesis in the ‘University Corps’, which was created under the Defence Act, 1917 with the object to make up the shortage of the Army. In 1920, when the Indian Territorial Act was passed, ‘University Corps’ was replaced by the ‘University Officer Training Corps (UTC)’ In 1942, the UTC was renamed as organization at National level to train the young boys and girls to be better citizens and future leader of our great country in all walks of life, including Defence forces, was rightly realized by our leaders. A Committee under Pansit HN Kunzru was set up in 1946 at the bchest of our first Prime Minister, Pansit Jawaharlal Neharu. The NCC came into existence on 16th July, 1948 under the NCC Act XXXVI of 1948 under the ministry of Defence (MOD).
NCC Motto
The Motto of the NCC is ‘Unity and Discipline’ which was adopted on 23 Dec 1957. In living up to its motto, the NCC strives to be and is one of the greatest cohesive forces of our nation, bringing together the youth hailing from different parts of our country and moulding them into united, secular and disciplined citizens of our nation.
Selection Of NCC Flag
In 1954 they existing tricolor tricolour flag was introduced. The three colours in the flag depict the three Services of the Corps, red for the Army, deep blue for the Navy and light blue for the Air Force. The letters NCC crest in gold in the middle of the flag encircled by a wreath of lotus. Give the flag a colourful look and a distinct identity each lotus represents one NCC Directorate (DTE).
Aims
The aims of NCC as approved by MOD in Mar 2001 are as under
- To develop character, comradeship, discipline, leadership, secular Outlook, spirit of adventure, sportsmanship and ideals of selfless service among the youth of the country.
- To create a human resource of organized, trained and motivated youth, to provide leadership in all walks of life and always be available for the service of the nation.
- To provide a suitable environment to motivate the youth to take up a career in the Armed Forces.
